Youth Performance Groups at Urbanity Dance
At Urbanity, performance is about more than taking the stage—it's about discovering confidence, building lasting friendships, and growing as an artist and leader. Our Youth Performance Groups create a pathway for dancers of all ages to challenge themselves, celebrate their creativity, and experience the joy of performing in a supportive community.
Youth Performance Groups offer dancers of all ages the opportunity to grow beyond the classroom through meaningful performance experiences. From first-time performers to aspiring pre-professional artists, each program builds confidence, creativity, teamwork, and a lifelong love of dance in a supportive community.
Company members focus on learning choreography and performance skills with the opportunity to perform in at least two additional performances outside of the year-end showcase. Past performances have included Boston Children's Museum, Fall Dance Crawl, South End Showdown, Winter Wonder Week, and the ICA Boston's Family Day.
Contemporary Companies
Urbanity’s Youth Companies give Contemporary students the opportunity to focus on learning choreography and building performance skills. Mini Company is for ages 6–9, Junior Company is for ages 8–11, and Senior Company is for ages 12–18.
Upon acceptance onto either the Mini, Junior, or Senior Company after the audition, you will be invited to register for the specific company class on Sawyer.
All those that join a youth company must also take at least one Contemporary and/or Ballet technique class per week
Supplemental classes in Acro and/or Musical Theater are encouraged, but not required.
Hip Hop Crews
Our Youth Crews allow Hip Hop students to focus on learning dance choreography and performance skills.
Mini Crew is for ages 6-9, Junior Crew is for ages 8-11, and Senior Crew is for ages 12-18.
Upon acceptance onto either the Mini, Junior, or Senior Crew after the audition, you will be invited to register for the specific company class on Sawyer.
All those that join a youth company must also take at least one Hip Hop technique class per week.
*NEW* Kiddie Co/Crew
New for the 2026-2027 season, by popular demand, is our Kiddie Co/Crew for ages 4-5 years old! Kiddie Co/Crew gives budding dancers the opportunity to start working on performance skills and remembering choreography across various styles of movement. Urbanity’s Kiddie Co/Crew will not require auditions, and you may register using the link below.

If you missed our scheduled audition on June 7th, but are interested in joining a Performance Group, reach out to School Director Haley Day haley@urbanitydance.org to arrange a makeup audition or discuss the best placement for your dancer.
