Access for All

Access for All (A4A) taps into a young person’s intrinsic passion for dance and empowers them to succeed by providing them with holistic resources that enable them to thrive through their dance education. Access for All subsidizes up to 100% of tuition costs at Urbanity’s School and also provides dance attire, transportation stipends, tickets to professional dance performances at Urbanity and around Boston, and additional support, so that each student may bring their full selves to every class, thereby enabling them to reap the full individual and communal benefits of a dance education.

Student participation in A4A has increased by 235% over a four year period - from 48 registrations in 2020 to 162 in 2024. Now, nearly 40% of all Urbanity students participate in the Access for All program. Over 75% of current A4A students receive full tuition coverage. To support this growth, Urbanity’s financial investment in the program grew from $30,000 to almost $200,000.

As School enrollments return to and exceed pre-Covid levels, we will continue to see the Access for All program grow. We are extremely proud that with the intentional focus on expanding the Access for All program, our student body is more diverse and includes more students from predominantly Black and Hispanic neighborhoods than ever before. The median household income of our A4A families is between $20k and $30k. Over 50% of A4A students identify as Black or African American, 45% as Hispanic or Latine, and 10% as Asian. 23% of A4A students reside in Dorchester and 21% reside in Roxbury.

In order to sustain this growth, additional investment in the program and in our students is required. Please join us in ensuring that this proven program can continue to grow and serve the young people of Boston by making a gift today, which will provide them with direct access to the high quality dance education at Urbanity Dance that they deserve.

“I'm very happy that she was able to be part of this program because it's given her a lot of self-esteem and a good sense of pride in the way that she expresses her dancing.”
