Urbanity 2 & Junior Apprentice Auditions

In-Studio Audition

Urbanity’s in-studio audition will be held Sunday, August 24 from 10-1pm at Urbanity Headquarters (1180 Washington Street #100, Boston). Led by Maggie Howe and Katelin Firth, the audition will incorporate aspects of ballet, modern, jazz and contemporary techniques. A warm-up will not be provided. Please wear something that shows lines and that you feel comfortable moving in and only barefoot or light socks for footwear. All are welcome - so come, even if for an inspiring class! RSVP below. The studio will open up at 9:30am for dancers to warm up.

Video Audition

ll videos must be submitted as a viewable link such as Vimeo or Youtube and not as a downloadable file. The deadline to submit applications is 11:59pm EST on Sunday, August 25. After registering through the button below, please email the video audition link to cayley@urbanitydance.org.

We're looking for dancers with training in contemporary dance, as well as expertise in other genres. Virtuosic dancers from all training backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Please showcase how you enjoy moving in your video audition. RSVP below.

About the Ensembles

Urbanity 2

This program is designed for high level dancers ages 18+. This highly competitive program offers dancers the opportunity to continue dancing and performing at a high level while also working jobs and pursuing graduate programs. Our dancers are tech specialists, HR and marketing professionals, med students, nurses, lawyers, financial analysts, dance teachers, and Physical Therapists. Urbanity Underground is brimming with heart, human connection, professionalism, and creation. Dancers have the option to apply for choreographic opportunities within the company. Underground gives its members a great deal of flexibility and the ability to choose in which shows they would like to participate.

 

Junior Apprentices

This program is designed for high school students ages 14 + who would like to experience dancing in a professional company and add this program to their resume. Our apprentices have gone on to dance at prestigious dance schools around the country including Juilliard, Boston Conservatory, University of the Arts, University of Hartford, University of Arizona, University of Michigan, Bennington College, and Alonzo King's LINES. Dancers have the option to apply for choreographic opportunities within the company. The Junior Apprentice program gives its members a great deal of flexibility and the ability to choose in which shows they would like to participate. Each Junior Apprentice dancer is assigned a mentor to work with them 1:1 throughout the season.  

Performance Opportunities

Dance Crawl: Dancers have the opportunity to perform work by guest artists in different venues across the South End. (Date TBD)

Urbanity 2 Showcase: Dancers have opportunities to choreograph and perform in works by Creative Class members (Date TBD)
