Boston Dance Wheels: Adaptive Partner Dance

“I just really wanted to go out and let the music move me.” — Aaron Aaskanese

Inspired by Aaron and his wife, Debra, Boston Dance Wheels explores partner dancing for a manual wheelchair user and a standing partner. Led by Director Betsi Graves, we learn partnered moves drawn from swing, salsa, waltz and more, then improvise across a wide range of music. Class is free and everyone is welcome. Bring your dancing wheels!

Who: Manual wheelchair users and their non-wheelchair partners (a friend, partner, or Urbanity volunteer). As we grow into a bigger space, we hope to welcome power chair users and other mobility setups too.

When: Sundays, 10:30–11:30am, every three weeks

Where: Urbanity Dance Central, 725 Harrison Ave, Boston

What to bring:

  • Anti-tippers for your chair, if you have them

  • Water

  • Comfortable clothes

  • Song requests!
