We are thrilled to have this opportunity to celebrate and cheer on our youth dancers (and caregiver performers!) as they perform on Boston University Dance Theater’s beautiful stage for Urbanity’s Annual Student Showcase. Please make sure to read all of the information below before purchasing tickets.
Call Times for Dancers
Dancers are expected to arrive at the theater 1 hour before the start of their show(s). Dancers should arrive 30 minutes before their dress rehearsal time slot.
Call for Dancers& Caregivers to Perform Together in the Urbani-fam Showcase Dance
Caregivers are invited to share the magic of the stage with their dancer by learning and performing a short dance choreographed by Director Betsi Graves and Performance Coordinator Miranda Lawson! More details and link to register here.
Call for Volunteers and Concession Stand Donations
We are in need of incredible caregiver volunteers to help out at the shows. If you’re interested in donating pre-packaged snacks and beverages for our pre-show concession stand, helping out with box office, or chaperoning students backstage during shows, please fill out the Urbanity Youth Student Showcase 2026 Volunteer and Concession Stand Donations form.

Costume Details
Showcase t-shirt, which will be handed out in class at least two weeks prior to the show.
Black pants, athletic style or leggings should be worn for bottoms to allow for ease of movement. Individual instructors may choose to have other costume guidelines for their classes, but it will not involve students having to purchase additional items.
Footwear by style:
Hip Hop: Sneakers
Contemporary: Non-slip socks or bare feet
Ballet: Ballet slippers or socks
Jazz: Jazz shoes or socks
Kids Dance: Non-slip socks of any color or bare feet
Hair should be pulled back away from the face. No jewelry, with the exception of small stud earrings and/or religious items. Stage make up is not necessary nor required.
Ticket Questions
Does my dancer need a ticket? Will they be able to see the show? Due to space capacity, dancers will not be allowed to see the show and will be staying backstage during the show.
Do you have accessible seating options, or other accessibility accommodations? The performance space is wheelchair-accessible; please note when you reserve your ticket if you need space for wheelchairs, other mobility aids, etc. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at studio@urbanitydance.org.
What if I have kid(s) in multiple shows? We recognize that it is an added expense to have a kid(s) in both shows. As such, if you buy tickets to both shows, tickets for the second show are 50% off (email studio@urbanitydance.org for the code).
Does my baby/toddler need a seat? If your baby/toddler does not require their own seat, their admission is free. If your baby/toddler requires their own seat, we ask that you purchase a ticket to reserve a seat for
Performance Questions
Do you allow audience members to take photos/videos of their dancer on stage? We ask that audience members do not photograph or videotape the show for several reasons: (1) devices are distracting to dancers, which becomes a safety issue; (2) it takes away the magic that happens when we are present with live dance performance and with our young dancers; and (3) it is a safety/liability concern, as we cannot control who is filming, what they are filming, and where they may post or use the footage.
Will there be a photos/video recording of the performance available? After the show, we will have designated areas for you to take photos of your dancers. For video, Urbanity is filming the show, and families will have the option to purchase a digital copy of all shows for $25 through the ticket link page. The video is meant to be used as a personal memento and to share with family/friends. Posting the video online or on social media is not permitted.
Are food/drinks allowed? Snacks and water will be available for purchase on-site as part of our concession stand (proceeds go towards our Access for All Scholarship Fund). Outside food and drinks are also permitted. In order to keep the venue a safe space for all, all food must be nut free, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
Can I buy flowers for my dancers onsite? Flowers will be sold at the venue and are also available for pre-order here. A portion of the proceeds go towards Urbanity’s Access for All Scholarship Fund.
How long is the show? Each show varies with the longest being an hour and a half.
