Anja Voges | Development Assistant & Faculty

Anja Voges (she/her) is a dancer, dance teacher, and arts administrator based in Boston, Massachusetts. Anja holds various roles in the dance sector, leveraging her diverse skill set and rooting herself deeply in Boston’s dance community. Originally from Connecticut, she graduated cum laude from American University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Dance. 

Anja has performed in various freelance modern, contemporary, and improvisational dance projects, including works by artists such as Jenny Oliver of Modern Connections, Daniel McCusker, Katherine Hooper of BoSoma Dance Company, Tara McCrystal of Infinity Dance Collective, Chitra Subramanian, and Kevan Sullivan. She was a 2024-2025 BIPOC Professional Dancer Mentee with MIDDAY Movement Series and a 2023-2024 company member with BoSoma Dance Company.

Anja is presently a dancer and teacher-in-training with Modern Connections, studying Founder Jenny Oliver’s pedagogical approach to Horton-based modern dance classes. She is also a Horton teacher at Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center for the Cambridge Youth Dance Program. In her classroom, Anja builds curiosity, strength, and joy by inviting her students into the dynamic world of the Horton technique through the Modern Connections’ approach to movement facilitation. 

As an arts administrator, Anja works in various roles to sustain the longevity of the dance ecosystem through advocacy, diversified fundraising, program administration, and the cultivation of community. In the non-profit space, Anja is the Development Assistant at Urbanity Dance, and at the collegiate level, she is the Dance Program Assistant at Tufts University. She is also the Operations Manager for dance theater company, Project ChArma.
