Cathedral High School Gymnasium: 74 Union Park St, Boston, MA 02118

Welcome to Urbanity’s Student Showcase 2024! We are thrilled to have this opportunity to celebrate and cheer on our young dancers. Please make sure to read all of the information below before purchasing tickets.

Call Times for Dancers

For dancers in Kids Dance (ages 4-5 on 9/1/23), dancers are to arrive 90 minutes before their show time (9:30am and 12:30pm) to run through their choreography on stage.

For all other dancers (Primary and Teen classes, ages 6+ on 9/1/23), call time is one hour before their show time (10:00am and 1:00pm).

We ask that you are on site by the above call times. Dancers can stay with their friends/families upon arrival but should be seated with their class no later than 15 minutes prior to the performance. Dancers will be dismissed by program (Kids, Primary, Teen) from the stage at the end of the show to return to their families.

Pre-Performance Questions

What if my dancer can no longer perform? What if I said my dancer couldn’t perform but now they can?

If your dancer’s RSVP has changed since you filled out the form, please let us know. You can also email us at studio@urbanitydance.org.

Ticket Questions

Does my dancer need a ticket? Will they be able to see the show? Does my dancer need a ticket? Will they be able to see the show?

No, your dancer does not need a ticket for the show(s) they are performing in. Performers will be seated in the “performer section” with their classmates/teacher and will be able to see the show from there.

What are your ticket options?

The audience is divided into four sections: VIP seating (first three rows of center section of bleachers), general bleacher seating, and floor seating.

Do you have accessible seating options, or other accessibility accommodations?

The performance space is wheelchair-accessible; please note on your ticket if you need space for wheelchairs, other mobility aids, etc., and then select the Floor Seating option. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at studio@urbanitydance.org or 617-572-3727 if there is something we can provide to make the performance as accessible as possible!

If I purchase a “floor” ticket, what does that mean?

The Floor section is the one closest to the stage (ground area in front of bleachers). Note that it’s a gym floor, but you may bring your own yoga mat or blanket.

What if I have kid(s) in both shows?

We recognize that it is an added expense to have a kid(s) in both shows. As such, if you buy tickets to both shows, tickets for the second show are 50% off (email studio@urbanitydance.org for the code). You may also reserve your seats for the second show thirty minutes before the “doors” open to the rest of the audience (i.e.during the time in-between shows).

Is it general admission? Can I reserve seats?

Seating is general admission by section (VIP, general bleachers, and floor). There are no assigned seats therein. “Doors” open one hour pre-show, so audience members may begin choosing their seats at 10:00am and 1:00pm before each show.

Is there a limit to the number of tickets I can buy?

No, there’s no official limit on the number of tickets per student, but there is a limited number of tickets available total. We encourage you to buy your tickets early!

Does my baby/toddler need a seat?

If your baby/toddler does not require their own seat, their admission is free. If your baby/toddler requires their own seat, we ask that you purchase a ticket to reserve a seat for them.

Are tickets refundable?

Tickets are non-refundable.

Performance Questions

Do you allow audience members to take photos/videos of their dancer on stage?

We ask that audience members do not photograph or videotape the show for several reasons: (1) devices are distracting to dancers, which becomes a safety issue; (2) it takes away the magic that happens when we are present with live dance performance and with our young dancers; and (3) it is a safety/liability concern, as we cannot control who is filming, what they are filming, and where they may post or use the footage.

Will there be a photos/video recording of the performance available?

After the show, we will have designated areas for you to take photos of your dancers. For video, Urbanity is filming the show, and families will have the option to purchase a digital copy for $20/show when they purchase their tickets (the option to purchase a copy of the video will be presented at check out). The video is meant to be used as a personal memento and to share with family/friends. Posting the video online or on social media is not permitted.

Where is the venue?

Cathedral High School is located at 74 Union Park St, Boston, MA 02118, fairly equidistant between Urbanity HQ (1180 Washington Street) and Urbanity Central (725 Harrison Ave).

Parking: We will have the Cathedral High School parking lot available for use, and there is also metered parking available on Harrison Avenue and Washington Street, as well as a few paid parking garages in the area.

MBTA access: take Silver Lines 4 and 5 to the Union Park Street stop

Are food/drinks allowed?

Baked goods will be available for purchase on-site as part of our bake sale (proceeds go towards our Access4All Scholarship Fund). Outside food and drinks are also permitted. In order to keep the venue a safe space for all, all food must be nut free, and alcoholic beverages are not permitted.

Can I buy flowers for my dancers?

Yes! Flowers will be sold at the venue and are also available for pre-order. If you would like to purchase flowers ahead of time, you can find more information here. A portion of the proceeds go towards Urbanity’s Access4All Scholarship Fund.

Is there a restroom on site?

Yes, there are restrooms on either side of the gymnasium.

How long is the show?

Each show is approximately 90 minutes long with a 10 minute intermission.
