School Coordinator (Central)

Urbanity Dance is hiring a part-time School Coordinator. This position will balance two sets of responsibilities--student accounts maintenance and work-study program supervision. The Coordinator will be directly supported and supervised by the School Administrative Manager, and will be trained to be well-versed and highly responsive in all of the administrative responsibilities related to student accounts and customer service. In addition to accounts maintenance and supervision, the Coordinator will assist with customer service inquiries as needed. 

The School at Urbanity Dance offers quality contemporary dance training for students of all ages. Our nurturing classroom environment is designed to encourage a generation of lifelong movers and dance enthusiasts. Company dancers and faculty, all from diverse cultural and dance backgrounds, strive to support each student in his/her dance experience. Urbanity strives to help diverse communities explore the expressive possibilities of movement.

The school coordinator will help with the following tasks:

  • Student account maintenance for School (ensuring that all appropriate fees have been applied on registration, following up on declined and late payments, and confirming that registrations are covered by payment plans)

  • Running regular reports on accounts (attendance upkeep, enrollment for Adult and Youth Programming, and late payment) 

  • Delivering excellent customer service while serving as studio administrator during classes at Urbanity Central

  • Facilities co-lead at Urbanity Central (ordering and restocking supplies, maintaining a clean and safe facility, assisting in facility-based projects)

  • Maintain the following schedule at our Central studio, located at 725 Harrison Avenue:

    • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 3:00pm - 9:00pm / Saturdays, 8:30am - 3:00pm

    • Occasional nights and weekends outside of typically scheduled shifts may be required with advance notice

Requirements:

  • Administrative experience 

  • Experience in billing, accounts receivable, and/or other finance-related tasks

  • Proficiency with MS Office/Google Apps

  • Customer service experience 

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Outgoing, proactive approach 

  • Detail-oriented

  • Experience with /aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment and an organization that delivers many programs

  • Preferred qualifications:

    • Experience with dance/other nonprofit arts organizations is a plus

    • Multi-lingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Mandarin/Cantonese)


Compensation: $15 per hour / 25 - 29 hours per week

Community Coordinator

This position will balance two sets of responsibilities--customer service for our students and families at our Balance studio located in the South End and administrative support for Urbanity’s Community programs. The Coordinator will be directly supported and supervised by the School Administrative Manager and Director of Education, and will be trained to be well-versed and highly responsive in all of the administrative responsibilities related to Urbanity’s School and Community programs.

The community coordinator will help with the following tasks:

  • Deliver excellent customer service as a lead interface with parents and students, including assisting with registrations and billing (in person and via email and phone)   

  • Be the first point of contact for any inquiries related to Urbanity’s Community programs, including drafting initial quotes

  • Support the School Administrative Manager in drafting and managing contracts with Community partner organizations and Urbanity faculty

  • Support the Director of Education with evaluation and documentation of Urbanity’s Community programs (gather student testimonials, survey/data collection, coordinate photo/video documentation and document community stories)

  • Serve as Facilities Co-Lead for Balance: Assist School Administrative Manager with day-to-day safety and security measures, supplies management, and facility maintenance projects

  • Attend weekly staff meetings at Urbanity Central

  • Maintain the following schedule at our Balance studio, located at 111 W. Concord Street:

    • Summer: Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 2:00pm.

    • Fall - Spring: Monday - Wednesday, 3:00pm - 9:00pm / Saturdays, 8:30am - 3:00pm

    • Occasional nights and weekends outside of typically scheduled shifts may be required with advance notice

Requirements:

  • Our Balance studio is accessed via stairs and the administrator will use a collapsible desk in a small space. This requires the applicant to be able to use stairs, lift arms over head, and to be comfortable in small spaces.
