Jamie Ballou is from Bridgewater, Massachusetts and attended Dean College where she obtained her BA in Dance: Education and Performance. She has been a company member for Urbanity since 2012. Jamie is an artistic-associate at Urbanity Dance and is also one of the co-directors for Urbanity’s Summer Intensive. She has had the pleasure of working with several outstanding choreographers/companies including: Betsi Graves, Doug Varone and Dancers, Pilobolus Dance Theater, Noble Motion, Jackie Nowicki, Ellenore Scott, and Marcus Shulkind. She has choreographed for, and participated in, several showcases, workshops, and festivals such as The Alvin Ailey Women in Dance Series, Urbanity’s “NEXT”, Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, and a collaboration with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Jamie is a dance instructor for both Urbanity and her hometown studio, where she is constantly motivated and inspired by her students. She is equally grateful and thrilled to continue her dance journey with Urbanity as a mover, a creator, and a lover of art!
