Marketing & Communications Manager
Urbanity Dance is looking to hire a Marketing & Communications Manager.
Working directly with the Artistic Director and collaboratively with other staff, this full time position is responsible for developing and executing our marketing & communications plan and drives a significant portion of our annual revenue.
You will engage with and build Urbanity's community through social media platforms, our website, and in email and print campaigns while managing content creation for all channels. In this role, you will also manages press relations and the creation of press kits and annual reports. This role also assists to analyze all marketing and communications efforts and to manage patron data.
We aim to have this role filled by August.
- Bachelors degree
- 2-3 years experience in marketing & communications preferred; development or other nonprofit/arts experiences considered
- Ability to tell stories (written, visual, in person and however else)
- Proficiency with MS Office/Google Apps, basic website maintenance and web-based marketing tools and platforms
- Previous experience with Squarespace, Mailchimp, WordPress and BaseCamp helpful; databases and/or CRM programs highly desired
- Photo, video and/or graphic design skills highly desired
- Experience with dance / other nonprofit arts organizations is a plus

Founded in 2008, Urbanity Dance is a Boston-based contemporary dance company recognized for pushing boundaries and effecting change.
Urbanity's nationally recognized company of professional dancers creates intimate and unconventional performances that both challenge and awe audiences. Urbanity produces multiple shows each season, including an interactive journey through Boston's South End each fall and a series of year-round performances featuring works by frequent collaborators and guest artists such as Larry Keigwin, Ellenore Scott and Pilobolus.
Urbanity has also been invited to perform in venues across the country, including Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, the Dance Gallery Festival in Houston, and APAP and the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York. Urbanity also presents the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, inviting 30 of the world's greatest dance companies to perform in Boston.
In addition to its professional company, Urbanity is home to dozens of other highly skilled dancers. These include members of Urbanity Underground, a group of young professionals who still passionately pursue dance in their lives, and those in our active Apprentice program comprised of high school and college students.
Offstage, Urbanity boasts acclaimed dance education and community outreach programs across the Greater Boston area. Working with more than 30 community partners, Urbanity's education and community programs reach over 5,000 students annually.
