Marketing & Communications Manager

Urbanity Dance is looking to hire a full-time Marketing & Communications Manager. Please apply by August 10, 2018.

Working directly with the Managing Director and collaboratively with other staff, this full-time position is responsible for developing and executing our marketing & communications plan, and drives a significant portion of our annual revenue. The Marketing & Communications Manager is an integral part of connecting with our communities and showing who we are.

You will engage with and build Urbanity’s community through email and print campaigns, online platforms and our website. You will collaborate with another staff member who is responsible for Urbanity’s presence on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering and executing all strategic marketing plans with the feedback of department heads

  • Driving ticket sales (regular Company season) through web, print, and email campaigns; and advertising

  • Marketing baby, youth and adult dance programs

  • Maintaining image and video archives

  • Sending monthly newsletters highlighting the organization and upcoming events

  • Aiding in the creation and execution of development campaigns and content

  • Manage all press relations and creation of press releases and press kits

  • Keep webpage up to date with news and program information

  • Manage merchandise design, inventory, and sales

  • Monitor and maintain brand consistency across all channels of communication

  • Support events at box office and merchandise tables

  • Contribute to annual budget preparation process for Marketing, and work within/monitor Marketing budget

  • Other related duties as needed

Please note, as a performing arts organization with performance and education programs, this role may require working morning, late afternoon and/or evening hours, as well occasional weekend obligations surrounding performances and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Marketing & communications experience

  • Graphic design skills

  • Ability to tell stories (written, visual, etc.)

  • Proficiency with MS Office/Google Apps, website maintenance, and web-based marketing tools

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-3 years experience in marketing & communications

  • Previous experience with email marketing platforms, Squarespace, Mailchimp and BaseCamp helpful

  • Photo and video skills highly desired

  • Experience with dance / other nonprofit arts organizations is a plus

School Administrative Manager

Urbanity Dance is looking to hire a full-time School Administrative Manager. The successful candidate will be the lead Administrator of Urbanity’s School, which serves over 500 students—babies, youth and adults—each week. The School Administrative Manager will have a support staff, and will be charged with managing and delegating responsibilities in aspiration of achieving excellence in the administrative and operative functions of the School.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver excellent customer service as a lead interface with parents and students, including assisting with registration and billing (in person, via email and phone)  
     
  • Collaborate with Urbanity staff in a variety of cross-organizational / multi-departmental activities related to Community programs, the Company, Development and Marketing
     
  • Supervise an Education Coordinator, Work Study Volunteers, PT Studio Administrative Assistants, and Staff serving as Studio Administrators  
     
  • Facilities management: assist with facility maintenance projects; maintain clean facilities in coordination with work study volunteers and PT Studio Administrative Assistants
     
  • Lead administrative processes involving School registration and enrollment, which involve use of Active and MindBody platforms
     
  • In collaboration with Director of Education, schedule classes across three studios and update class offerings in Active and MindBody
     
  • Schedule studios, including School classes, Company rehearsals, private lessons, community events, and space rentals
     
  • Conduct enrollment, attendance and waitlist reporting via Active platform on Youth and Adult classes
     
  • Process new hire paperwork and payroll for School-related staff    
     
  • In collaboration with Director of Education and Urbanity staff, lead on School communications with families and students
     
  • Lead administrative processes related to Accounts Payable and Receivable processes related to student and community billings and invoicing, rentals / venues, etc.
     
  • Coordinate student performances including year-end Student Showcase, quarterly Adult Showcases, Youth Company and Hop Hop Crew performances

Development & Education Coordinator

Urbanity Dance is looking to hire a part-time (35 hours per week) Development & Education Coordinator. Please apply by August 10, 2018.

This is a unique role that balances two separate sets of responsibilities. The employee will be based at one of our studio locations (either 1180 Washington or Balance) approximately 23 hours per week, and will prioritize parent/student interaction and customer service on an as-needed basis while present at the studio. In this capacity, the Coordinator will be directly supporting and supervised by Casey Kemp, Education Manager, and will be trained to be well-versed and highly responsive in all of the administrative responsibilities related to the School. The employee will be based at the Urbanity administrative office for the remaining 12 hours required for this position. Approximately 25 hours of the employee’s time can be expected to be focused on Development responsibilities, and approximately 10 hours focused on customer service and School administration.

During quiet moments when the employee is not required to provide customer service or respond to School-related requests, the employee will turn their attention to Development. In this capacity, the Coordinator will work directly with the Managing Director. This staff member will play a key role in implementing Urbanity’s Development plan and meeting targeted goals.

Development responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with Managing Director on annual Development plan and its execution

  • Collaborate with Managing Director and Marketing Manager to develop and execute fundraising campaigns via online platforms and printed materials

  • In collaboration with Managing Director, lead planning and organization of Development events

  • Collaborate with Managing Director and others on grant research, applications and reporting

  • Maintain and organize donor information and records in a system such as Salesforce

  • Track donations and process donation acknowledgment receipts

  • Contribute to annual budget preparation process for Development, and work within/monitor Development budget

  • Other related duties as needed

School administration responsibilities:
