In Spring 2013, Urbanity Dance launched Dance for Parkinson’s, a program modeled after the successful program, Dance for PD, designed by Brooklyn Parkinson’s Group and Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG). This version aims to support individuals & caregivers affected by Parkinson’s Disease, while allowing them to experience the joy of a dance class.

-Through weekly dance classes, this program will assist our participants through:

                    > function and mobility challenges

                    > improving the individual and caregiver quality of life

                    > the need for a community network

  1. -Instructor is certified for Dance for PD through the Mark Morris Dance Center training program

  2. -This class is not designed to be occupational or physical therapy, although we do have trained     therapists participating in the program, should dancers ask for their help.

  3. -Dancers’ movements are partnered with the accompaniment of live music.

Hear what one of our participants had to say about her experience!
